Broccoli is one of my favorite sides. When steaming it, it comes together in 15 minutes or less with minimal prep and always tastes delicious! It’s super simple to make, and easy to elevate your meals with this vibrant and nutritious powerhouse of a vegetable.

  • Fresh broccoli florets
  • Garlic
  • Lemon juice

  3. Broccoli is versatile and pairs really nicely with almost anything. I think it goes best with a salad, grain bowls, or as a side dish to a protein. One of my favorite meals is steamed broccoli with Easy Baked Salmon and Lemon Garlic Couscous. Something about the combination of items is just so perfect together!

Steamed Broccoli

This steamed broccoli recipe is seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, and a squeeze of lemon to create a flavorful yet nutrient-packed side dish.

Servings 4 servings


  • 1 pound fresh broccoli florets chopped
  • 4 cups water
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ lemon juiced
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • Other optional seasonings: red pepper flakes, Parmesan cheese, etc.


  • In a medium pan, sauté minced garlic in olive oil until garlic is fragrant. Add in water and broccoli. Cover with lid and steam on medium-high for 12-15 mins or until broccoli is tender.
  • Remove broccoli from the pan and top with lemon juice, and salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy!
